Pat Houkes

Pat was born in Australia in 1951. Now she lives and works as a versatile visual artist in The Hague, the Netherlands. Her magic realistic oil paintings, charcoal drawings, modern sculptures and installations are inspired by everyday life. She incorporates themes like vulnerability, sexuality, detachment and consumerism. All the titles are carefully chosen. Her exhibitions are frequently in the Netherlands as well as abroad. In New York she has been awarded with a fellowship and solo exhibition by New Art Center (former CAN).
Amongst commisioned artworks are portraits, large mural paintings, painted curtains, folding screens and sculptures. Pat links art to business by organizing workshops and creative events for companies, families and children parties, both in and outside her studio.
